Blick in die Niederlande: In-Game-Items gelten als Besitz

APELDOORN, 01/02/12 - The conning of a virtual amulet and mask from the online game RuneScape is theft, the Supreme Court ruled yesterday.

The Court upheld the verdict of the appeal court in Leeuwarden on 10 November 2009. But due to exceeding the reasonable time for prosecution, the community service imposed has been reduced to 144 hours.

In September 2007, two players of the game forced a 13 year old to give them his items from RuneScape. They asked him to drive with them to their house, where they hit him on the head, kicked him and threatened him with a knife. The boy then transferred the virtual mask and amulet to the account of the attackers.
