I'm frankly not surprised by the involvement of the NRHZ : they've always been the one and only newspaper to publish the contributions of the most vociferous anti-killerspiele figures such as Maria Mies, Rudolf Hänsel and Sabine Schiffer. In fact, I would have been surprised if they had nothing to say. The problem is : I expected a bit more from them. Hänsel is just parroting other press releases, and Mies is just renewing her "Cologne Call". Nothing new under the sun.

By the way, Rey_Alp had a question about Thomas de Maizière's statement :
Rey Alp wrote:The real secret is - why did de Maizière mentioned it. So I guess that this isn't a revive of the discussion yet. It is just the media coverage of the statement of the minister of the interior - and a few weird reactions related to this.
I guess I have one theory, inspired by an article in a French political blog : http://www.causeur.fr/migrants-maiziere ... 39631.html

In short, Thomas de Maizière plays the role of the "bad cop" in the Merkel government. He's the one who counterbalances Merkel's softer image by a series of "tough" declarations. His goal is to reassure the right-wing fraction of the opinion (who is more and more seduced by AFD and Pegida) and re-establish, in their minds, the CDU/CSU as "the Party of Law and Order".

If this theory is right, I guess his recent anti-"Killerspiele" declarations make sense. Usually, when a terrorist attack occurs, he attacked radical islam. But as the Munich Amoklauf couldn't be related to ISIS, there was still something to blame (e.g. "Killerspiele"). So it was an opportunity for de Maizière to make another strong declaration and show people how "bad cop" he was.

That is a point.

Next year we have the federal election in Germany - maye they just started the campaign and he wants to promote the "law and order"-image of the CDU/CSU. The have a problem with the AFD - so it make sense.

In MecklenburgVP the afd is chasing the CDU, which only has a one point lead. So yeah. "Nothing may be more right wing than CDU" strategy looming here. I think he would have waded in more, but didn't expect the backlash on social media, which today has much more political weight than a decade ago.

It's similiar here in Austria. The chancellor (Kern) also has such a minister.
His name is Doskozil. This guy even is a former police officer.

In Austria, the biggest chance in all of Western europe exists that the next chancellor (or at least vice-chancellor) will come from the far-right. There is also still a good chance that both heads of the state will be far-right politicians.
Therefore the centrist parties are doing everything they can to establish "law & order"-policies themselves: on the one hand to prevent a right-wing government from happening and stop the rise of the far-right, on the other hand to commend themselves as partners. In Austria, the immigrant policy is already unfriendly as a whole.
The only difference I see in France, where there is still largely a divide between the far-right and the rest of the parties. A "cordon sanitaire", as they once called it in Belgium. Even if this one is already crumbling (too).

Ugh.

@Rigolax
